An ADA restroom sign with raised letters and braille is required at most public restrooms, and these pre-made signs make it quick and easy to get right.

Each sign is molded from 1/8″ thick ABS plastic with raised white characters, raised pictograms and Grade 2 braille on a non-glare black or blue background. They are made to meet the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design for tactile signs, so they’re a simple fix for offices, restaurants, churches, schools, shops and rental properties. Every ADA restroom sign comes with double-sided mounting tape, so it installs in minutes with no tools. These are ready-made signs; they are not engraved or customized.

ADA compliant features

Optional mounting frame

Add a black 6″ x 9″ frame with four gold screws for a finished, permanent look in high-traffic spots. The frame fits the 6″ x 9″ signs only, not the 6″ x 6″ Exit sign.

How to mount an ADA sign

Under the 2010 ADA Standards (section 703.4), a room ID sign generally goes on the wall beside the door, not on the door itself:

• Mount it on the latch side of the door. For double doors, use the right side of the right-hand door.
• The baseline of the lowest raised letters should be at least 48″ above the floor, and the highest no more than 60″.
• Leave a clear 18″ x 18″ floor space in front of the sign, outside the door swing, so someone can stand and read it by touch.
• Clean the wall with rubbing alcohol, let it dry, peel the tape liner and press firmly for 30 seconds.

Local building codes and inspectors can add their own rules, so check with your local building official if you’re unsure about a specific location.
